March 30th, 2010gone so soon…

Two sad news in one month caught us all by surprise. The first one was the death of my dad’s close friend, Tito N. They were classmates in highschool and have lost contact when we were living in another city but they were able to catch up along with their other classmates. He and Dad bonded lately when we lived back in our hometown. They would go to birthday parties together, alumni meetings, and other family events. He’d visit dad often at home and they would chit-chat or enjoy listening to dad’s music.

His death was unexpected coz according to my dad, the last time they had a get-together with friends, and their topic was about health, life insurance rates and medicines among other things, Tito N. never mentioned that he was having any health problems. Dad is very saddened over his death; he won’t have any sidekick on their batch’s outings anymore.

The second news is the death of my brother-in-law’s younger brother, Jj. Jj is still very young at 38 to die. He was healthy, active and jolly guy according to family and friends so his death came as a big shock to everyone. He was supposed to fly back to Thailand that morning, back to his wife who’s going to have her birthday the next day and their 4 year old son, but he was found dead on his bed.

They might have gone ahead, but their memories will live in the hearts of the people who loved them. The biggest consolation is that they didn’t die suffering… both their deaths were peaceful ones.

March 27th, 2010update on baby A

Baby A has hit his two month mark and with it comes plenty of developments. He’s already interacting with us; he responds to our smiles and talk with his cute smile and cooing, he can lift his head when placed on his tummy, he can hold and grip toys or other things with his hands, he follows things held up to him with his gaze and right now he is “talking” to his image in the mirror. :)

Lifting his head up…

Holding a toy…

I am glad he can do other things already not just sleep, poo and eat. I can leave him sitting in his rocking chair for some time and he just sits there looking around, making cute sounds. Sometimes I even catch him smiling to the air. hehe

He had his third check-up last Wednesday, so I’ve got this figures to show off. He weighs 5.25 kgs. and measures 58 cms. in length (that’s as of March 24). That’s where all the milk he’s drinking goes to!

March 25th, 2010baby skin problems

Baby’s skin is very sensitive because they are thinner thus it is less resistant to bacteria and other harmful substances in the environment. A baby is bound to get infant acne, heat rash, cradle crap or dry skin.

Baby A after a refreshing bath… :)

Baby Adie isn’t exempted from these skin problems. He had another check-up yesterday and the doc noticed that he had small red dots on his face and his body is dry. What’s the best face cream and the best body skin care for him then? For his face, she recommended the lotion with zinc and for dry skin, the vitamin lotion with special (secret) ingredients made especially by CZ dermatologists.

His skin condition though is just a minor problem common in babies which is only but normal. It can easily be treated and usually disappear quickly.

March 22nd, 2010holiday reminder

My friend A, who’s currently on vacation in the Philippines with her two kids, just sent an SMS to my sis there, she was asking if the sunglasses of her son was left in my condo where they stayed overnight before going to their province. Oh well, she got it right, the cute Dickies shades was really left there in my condo. Just a reminder to those who are on vacation, whether you’re staying on a beach resort in Boracay or any of those Toronto hotels, be sure to check all your things before leaving. You might be leaving some really important stuff in your room and that would spoil the fun in your vacation.

March 20th, 2010i want my flat tummy back!

Who needs a quick weight loss solution when lack of sleep and constant breastfeeding are doing the great job in getting me back to my pre-pregnancy weight? Right, even if I eat a lot, I still am losing weight! That’s good news for me coz spring is here and soon it’s time to shed off those thick layers of winter clothing. Which means if I want to look good for the season, the work should be done ASAP!

My concern is the flab in my tummy. I have been advised by my friend who has 4 kids to use an abdominal binder right after giving birth to get my tummy back to its pre-pregnancy form. I didn’t take it seriously though. I always forget to wear the binder especially that I’m always busy. I just found out from an article today that it really works wonders in making the tummy flat again. According to articlesbase.com “Abdominal binding has been used to, flatten the belly, speed up weight loss, tone the muscles of the abdomen, promote good posture during breastfeeding, reposition the womb, dispel the lochia and eliminate stretch marks.”

March 16th, 2010happy reminiscing

Now “restricted” to the confines of home, what with two babies (an almost-three-year-old and a newly-born more-than-a-month-old), I dream of vacation sometimes. If only I could go home, my family – mom, dad and sis – would be more-than-willing to help in taking care of their much-missed cutie Caite and not-yet-seen baby Adie. Not that I’m complaining, as my thoughtful, helpful and able hubby gives me no reason for such (in fact I should say I’m very thankful to God for the gift of his person!) Yet, I can’t help dream of Outer Banks beach rentals – just reminiscing of the days when, together with my family, our own family bunch of three (yet!) were in a beautiful beach back home in our beloved Philippines.

March 16th, 2010adie’s stats

He gained half kilo making him 4 kilos. His body length is already 54 cm.

The little boy at 6 weeks old.

For sure he has gained more since then. :)   He is 7 weeks and 2 days old today.

March 13th, 2010condo for rent

The condo that my sister C was tasked to design and furnished is done and ready for occupancy! After months of canvassing and hunting for furnitures, home accessories, American Standard toilet and bath items and furnishings; dealing with the owner, contractors, carpenters and suppliers and all that stuff, it’s time for her to sit down and relax.

The living room….

This condo building is situated near the Manila International Airport ( about 15 minutes ride), is only a few minutes ride to SM mall and other business establishments.  Its amenities include a swimming pool, cafe bar, gym and it has a 24/7 security. The unit itself is fully equipped and furnished.

If you’re in Manila and in need of a place to stay for a night or for months, this is for you! Drop me a message, okay? :)

March 12th, 2010friday conference chat

It’s Friday again! It’s the second time that my college buddies and I had a conference chat in YM. Most of them are working in the Middle East, where their typical work week is from Thursday to Saturday. Hence Friday is a free day for them, making them available for chatting.

We had a lot of fun teasing each other and some even have the courage to finally reveal their former crushes. The only problem is that YM isn’t reliable for a conference chat. There are times when my other friends cant read what’s being discussed, which is very annoying coz they’d missed the interesting scoops! Others also had problems with their internet connection or with their notebooks or PDAs, but oh well, we still thank technology for bringing us together after the long years of not hearing from each other. Till next Friday again!

March 5th, 2010budget-conscious

With the soaring prices these days, everyone looks for bargains when they shop, especially the housewife who is budget-conscious. I wonder however for those who have money to burn, they are of course exceptions, so I refer to the majority; let’s face it, they are more in numbers than the so called “born with a silver spoon”. That’s why when one sees anything on sale, even a cheap auto insurance, it could be an attraction!
