If you’re a Filipino living or working abroad and who hasn’t yet registered for the upcoming 2010 elections, please be reminded that you’ve got few days to do so till the registration ends. DFA Undersecretary for Special and Ocean Concerns Rafael Seguis informed Filipinos abroad that they have until August 31, 2009 to register.
A friend of mine and I are going to the Philippine Embassy on Friday to register. Though I don’t even know at this time who to vote, I decided to just register. Maybe by February, I’ll already have a choice. There are so many aspirants for the top position declaring their desire to run that voters need to really sit down and think who to choose for the country’s good. So instead of thinking which dress to buy or acne products to use, let’s give it a big thought who to vote! I can only hope that the people won’t be divided and eventually miss out on the deserving one.
Grilled liempo! Sarap! I bet some of us might need weight loss supplements after all the grilled meat we’ve consumed this summer. As for me, I still haven’t got enough of it!
We invaded my friend’s house last weekend which is located in a nice and quite subdivision in the outskirts of Prague just for that! They have a big backyard lawn which is a perfect place to relax (while watching Caity run and play) and enjoy our barbeque. Even if the weather threatened us with rain in the morning, that didn’t stop us from pushing ahead with our plan. We were fortunate that the rain didn’t come back in the afternoon when we had our cook-out. We even had a bonus coz my friend and her husband kept Caity entertained with bubbles, motorbike, piano, etc. while M and I mostly watched in amusement.
Here they are having fun with bubbles:
Caity wants to ride the bike too!
I can’t wait for the next weekend’s barbeque party for more grilled liempo! Teehee! It’s actually Caity’s birthday celebration.
Most of our friends already know that we’re expecting a baby. We sent out our baby announcements through word of mouth and emails as soon we discovered the wonderful surprise. But shhhh nobody yet knows the gender of the baby. Not even us! Last week when I had my check-up, the doctor was not able to find the sign that would tell us. We have to wait till the next visit then.
A short clip of baby H at 15 weeks and 2 days.
As more and more people are asking what our baby will be, boy or girl, I am thinking maybe we should keep it a secret from everybody to heighten their anticipation. Hehehe silly me. It’s just a thought, but maybe I’d go for it. Who knows what crazy ideas a pregnant woman can concoct.
A dripping faucet may seem unlikely to cause a big difference in your water consumption. But don’t take this problem for granted. According to the estimation calculated by the Water Science for Schools 1 gallon of water is equivalent to 15,140 drips; 1 liter is equivalent to 4,000 drips. If not addressed immediately, how much gallons of water are wasted each day? Hmmmm… think, think, think! I know sometimes it may take weeks before a homeowner fixes this problem. Sometimes all that’s needed is to change the faucet, (try the Danze faucets brand) or replace the gasket. It helps when there’s a handyman in the household (yoohooo Dad!)
A nice reminder for us to immediately take action whenever we have leaky faucets from Awareness Ideas, would be this Water Conservation Magnet:
O-oh! I don’t know what triggered my legs to feel itchy again lately. It usually happens during winter when my skin gets very dry. But based on my experience from last year when I was faced with this dilemma, applying petroleum jelly works to keep the itch away. Thank goodness for that. I discovered it after many trial and error experiments which mostly resulted to errors! Being fond of treating my own afflictions, I usually turn to the internet for home remedies and read several skin care product reviews. My poor legs suffered badly from my mistakes then. Huhuhuhu…
My friend M.C. who’s suffering from allergy attack has it worse too. Aside from her back, her face and even lips are itching a lot. Her lips even have swollen, ala Angelina Jolie hehe. I think it all started when we had lunch at my place and we ate dried fish and squid. Yay! Our other friends have advised her to be careful with the food she eats as it may worsen her skin problems. Poor girl! They suggested she just eats porridge.
Oh well. Time for me to rub more petroleum jelly on my legs to totally eradicate the irritating itch!
It was our third year to attend a friend’s annual summer gathering in their cottage in Lipence last weekend. The first time (year 2007) was memorable coz I was heavily pregnant with Caity then. The second year, Caity was already with us! My sister who was then visiting for summer was able to come with us too. Those past two years, only few guests came but the recently held event was well-attended by friends that parking even became a problem.
The camping ground…
The weather wasn’t perfect, it was sunny, then rainy, warm then cold; the guys had to move the tables and chairs inside the cottage few times during the day. A tent and outdoor furniture covers would have been useful so we have protection from the fickle weather. In spite of that we still had FUN! We started Friday night with a cook-out. We had barbeque, vegetable salad, lots of drinks (especially for the guys), someone brought a guitar and sang us songs…
Friday night barbeque…
The next day more friends joined us and even more food was prepared and served. It was like an international food fair; present were Asian, Italian, Czech and of course Filipino dishes.
Saturday lunch. That’s us, eating all the time!
Some of the food we have that made it for the pictorial.
We also played dance music from the 80s which brought memories of our heydays. Some couldn’t help but dance to the lively beat. Even the kids danced along with their titas. M was able to take videos of that but I’m not going to post it here. The girls might complain! =)
All in all it was a great combination of friends, food and fun!
*Thanks to Tess for letting me use some of her pics.
