When we learned that our landlady didn’t want to renew our contract, there wasn’t anything we could do then. M was out of the country on a business trip and me and little C were in the Philippines for a vacation. That was in the middle of January. When M got back from his trip two weeks after the notice, he searched the internet for any available Prague apartments. There were several apartments he found within the area we wanted, but there were some factors that we didn’t meet.

Most owners didn’t like tenants with kids, (this I suspect is the reason why our landlady is driving us away). Some kids can be destructive; they’d doodle on walls, chairs, etc. Parents would know what little children can do. But we’ve been good you know! We took care of her fishes (they’ve multiplied abundantly) and also her plants. Though a few died but the rest are growing pretty well. And our little C hasn’t destroyed any of her things or furniture.

Another thing is that there were some owners that didn’t accept foreign tenants. That would be me no doubt. I don’t know why. Racial discrimination? Hmmm… Plus the fact that we had our own factors to consider too such as the cost of rent, location, and the flat’s amenities made the search all the more difficult. And having only two weeks to do the search and transfer gave us a lot of pressure.

Anyway, we’ve managed to find an apartment to transfer to a day before our deadline ended, thanks to the expats.cz webpage. If you’re planning to move to Prague or just looking for a place to stay while in the city, the website can help you a great deal.
