January 27th, 2009the answer to hair loss

You’re mom looks younger than her little brother!” A friend exclaimed upon seeing our pictures taken during the visit of our relatives last month. I have to agree with her. Uncle V is more than five years younger than mom but at his age, he seems to be the older between them. His old look can be blamed for his disappearing hairline, one common sign of aging in men.

Uncle V doesn’t really care about his looks but for some men who are bothered with hair loss, they should be aware that there are many hair products that can treat this problem. nioxin is one of those products. It has 8 different kinds of products; each one is made to address specific thinning hair problems.

Why be frustrated with thinning hair when there’s a solution for it? All it takes is a little initiative to make you feel good and look younger!

Because for two days I’m back indulging in one of my fave past time, that is watching Korean drama, I remember what I’ve noticed during our 7 hour stop-over in Seoul airport last November.

It was quite a long stop and to kill time, I was people-watching, while of course cautiously watching and following little C wherever she went. I met many Korean couples who were wearing matching clothes - tops, pants, shoes (whatever they could think of matching!).

There were those that wear exactly the same shirt print and color. Some wear matching styles or the same design but of different colors. I also saw a couple wearing the same pair of rubber shoes. It was really cute to look at. Too bad my camera wasn’t with me; I could have stolen some shots for you all to see. Nonetheless I got lucky when I googled “Korean matching attire” and found some pictures with couples wearing matching clothes.

You can tell they’re really in love.  =)

Anybody who knows how this lovers’ fashion trend started and became popular in Korea?

January 16th, 2009yummmm…

I thought after all food-binging of the Christmas holidays I’ll finally be able to get back on restraining my eating habits this new year. But with only a few weeks remaining of my Philippine vacation, I know I’ll be stuffing myself with the foods I miss before I fly back to Europe where I will be deprived of these kinds of food again.

Who can resist this?

We specially requested Juv to cook it for our afternoon snacks.

January 16th, 2009bed for little C

Little C has been co-sleeping with us at night since she was a baby. It worked well with me coz I didn’t have to get up (and go to the other room where her crib is) to nurse her, so we got through the night with little interruptions which was also good for her dad who has to work the next day. But now that she’s getting bigger, she also needs a bigger space to move coz she’s fond of rolling and turning on the bed when she sleeps. It happened many times that I placed her beside me to sleep, only to find her hours after already near my feet. That’s how little C is, still active even when sleeping! Once we get back to Prague, we might start separating her from us at night when she sleeps.

Scouting and comparing childrens beds at this time would be appropriate to get enough ideas on what kind of bed to get her. One thing is for sure, the bed should be wide enough to accommodate our mobile little girl in sleep. It should also be soft for her to jump and play on.

the cutey pink Horse & Carriage bed

One nice place to browse on is the Time 4 Sleep website which sells all kinds of beds. They have pretty designs for children’s beds such as the Pink Jeep bed, the Horse & Carriage bed (which I really find cute!) or the Princess bed which has an ample storage space underneath for kids’ stuff and toys. There are still plenty to choose from! I hope to find the right one for little C there!

Help me figure out!

Little C got this as a gift from her uncle and auntie. All along I thought it was a pig coz of its pink color, but few days ago my sister noticed that it doesn’t look like a pig. It has a long tail, its snout is flat and it has thin legs. Could it be a dog?

January 13th, 2009sharing God’s blessings

Puto

My cravings for Filipino native delicacies were satiated last Saturday when mom held her yearly Christmas gift-giving with the indigent mothers near our place. She served them puto, puto kutsinta, pichi-pichi and bicho-bicho (and fruit juice to go with it). Yummm! Then she gave out gift bags which contained rice, canned goods and noodles. She also had a raffle of prizes to add to the fun. It wasn’t much but it sure made the mothers happy including mom. What matters most is the willingness of the heart to share. It was her way of sharing God’s bountiful blessings to our family. God bless her!

January 13th, 2009smile!

Family reunions won’t be complete without taking pictures of those happy moments the family has together. It’s a rare occasion when everyone can be around and pictures will forever hold those fond memories alive. If not for digital cameras, we won’t have countless of photos to remind us of the happy moments we had.

So what do you do when the photographer starts counting to shoot? 1, 2, 3, SMILE! Give out the best smile as the camera flashes! But what if you don’t have those white, sparkling teeth to show off? For stained teeth, you’ll need a teeth whitener product for a white and bright set of teeth when you smile. According to Celebrity Sexy White Blog, proper and daily usage of Celebrity Sexy White can whiten the most yellowish teeth there are. One of the posts mentioned how the guy’s stained teeth (of many years) were cleared in less than a month of using this teeth whitening product. It gave him the confidence to give out his toothy smile unlike before when he probably was just keeping his mouth closed to hide his ugly teeth.

The next time you face the camera, be sure to smile! You wouldn’t want to spoil the group pictures with your sullen look, right? Go whiten those teeth!

christmas tree
Our Christmas tree.

Our December was jampacked with many family activities, mostly dining out (to eat the Filipino/Negrosanon food we’ve been missing) and shopping. My siblings and their family have been arriving (and leaving) one after another and dad was one busy driver, picking them up (and back) at the airport.  After Christmas day, my bro-in-law and nephew flew to Davao while bro #1 and his family returned to Cebu. One day after, my uncle and aunt together with my cousins and kids arrived from Mindanao.

Anyway, on Christmas Eve, the whole family (only M was lacking to complete the family) attended the Mass and when we got home, we partook our Noche Buena food and the gift-giving followed. It lasted until the wee hours of the morning because there were plenty of us! Poor little C; she wasn’t able to join us coz she was already asleep.  It was a happy moment to be with family again!  The last time we were together was last Christmas 2005 but it wasn’t a happy one because mom was sick then.
