A couple of weeks ago I got an award from Melissa of Your Fun Family. I wasn’t able to post it sooner, either I was busy or tired. Teehee. She gave out three awards but I chose only those I didn’t get yet. Now I am displaying it for all to see!

Thanks Melissa!

It took me a week to finally break the silence in my blog. I have been very tired the days that followed our arrival in the country. That and the problem with jet lag and the sudden shift of (almost) winter temperature to the tropic’s hot and humid. In fact I got sick for a day. Now I feel a lot better and my body clock has slightly adjusted to the local time.

Me and little C at Siam.
Little C and I stayed for a day in Cebu. I was able to meet my friends for lunch at Chika-an, one of the oldest and famous restaurants in Cebu which serves local foods. They’re now conveniently located at the SM North Wing, an extension of the mall which was then under construction when I last visited Cebu two years ago. I feasted on grilled squid, calamares and my fave, the fresh lumpia from Pete’s Kitchenette that my friends bought.

For dinner with family, we dined at Siam, a Thai restaurant located at Terraces, a newly opened extension of Ayala Center Cebu. Terraces has a circular plan which contains mostly of food joints and coffee shops. In the middle is an open sunken court which was beautifully landscaped into a park with lush vegetation and palm trees. On both sides of the stairs leading to the park, water cascades down like a waterfalls. What a progressive Cebu!

The next day, we flew to Negros and since then I’ve been busy settling down, resting and going out with the family.
*I don’t have any pictures to share of our inflight travel and also of our long stop-over in Incheon International Airport (Korea) coz I forgot to take the camera from M when we parted at Prague Airport. Way ayo!
It was only last month when I wrote about my dream to fly to Philippines again for Christmas to be with the whole family for the celebration. And guess what? We’re flying tomorrow already! Well, just me and little C coz M has an important business trip to another part of the world to take care of. He’ll follow next month, hopefully if the travel agent can find him an available flight.
M and I originally didn’t plan to fly back to Philippines this soon since we’ve recently gone home last March and spent two months there, but upon learning that all my siblings will spend Christmas at our hometown, we considered going home again. M had to ask for leave before we could decide on our trip. And then we later on found out that little C’s passport was expiring this December and my permanent residence permit has to be renewed. After all the travel documents have been complied it was then that we gave our preferred dates of departure to the travel agent.
This time we’re taking a different route. Our carrier is Korean Air which will fly from Prague to Seoul and from Seoul to Cebu. We’ll stay a day in Cebu before proceeding to Bacolod. I’m quite excited about landing in Cebu. hehehe I’ll get to meet family and friends there whom I haven’t had the chance to see on my trip last time. little C’s cousins are excited to see her as well.
So Cebu, Philippines, here we come!

Public toilets can sometimes be unhygienic. Since it is open for everybody, you don’t know how the toilet is used especially if it’s a common toilet for both men and women. To save yourself from having to hold that toilet seat again, a new and innovative product is out! It’s The Shandle: Toilet Seat Handle – a nifty toilet seat handle should I say! It’s a tiny piece of material that you attach below the toilet seat which is treated with antimicrobial protection that stops the growth of icky invisible bacteria.
It works well for homes too. I can see big grins in women who have stubborn men at home; those who always need to be told to put the seat down! Right? Well, this solves your problem ladies. With the hygienic power and the various pretty designs of Shandle, you wouldn’t mind at all lowering the toilet seat yourself. And you don’t have to remind them yourself too, coz Shandle will do that for you!
See these lovable designs:

Lumpia, pancit palabok, sisig, abodong manok & baboy, lechon ala angie, adobong pusit, sinigang, brownies, biko, chocolate cake… hayyy, looking at the picture and mentioning the food here makes me crave for more of those delicious food! Fortunately, there’s another one coming this Thursday and hopefully I’ll get to join the feast again.
Anyway, those mentioned above were the food we had last Friday at my friends’ joint party celebration. Aside from the abundance of food, a typical Filipino party wouldn’t be complete without music, tadan! Karaoke or videoke will always be present unless someone forgets it but usually food and singing always go hand in hand. Ask any Filipino you know. So yes, there was a lot of singing at the party.

Who wouldn’t think of snow when winter is mentioned? In fact a winter without snow somehow doesn’t seem right, like what’s happened the past couple of years. Winter sports fans we’re disappointed then coz they can’t fully enjoy their favorite sports with less snow. Hopefully this year will be better and that we’ll have lots of snow all throughout the winter season.
To get ready for fun times in the snow, it’s best to reserve for *deer valley ski rentals as early as possible. They have introduced a very convenient way of renting ski equipment and that is by delivering the ski rental equipment right to the customer’s home. You only need to make reservations online or call their toll free number. If you’re worried that the boots would be too big or too small for you, fret not. They will bring extra pairs of boots of all the sizes you need for that right fit. You can also pick-up your equipment on the final day. There’s no need for you to stand in line to rent wasting valuable time. All that great services plus their best ski rental equipment offered at low prices, there’s nothing more you can ask for. Oh, they even offer technical support during the ski rental. Can you beat that? With your ski equipment already taken cared of, all you need to do is wait for the snow to come!

A lesson to myself: make sure our travel documents are valid and updated for travelling! Who knows when the opportunity to travel knocks and it would be really nice if I can hurriedly grab our travel documents and ran off to the airport without any hitches. Processing these important documents can take weeks or months and such delay is annoying especially if the chance is slowly slipping away.
Anyway, little C had her passport renewed last Thursday. I hope it will be released this week. And today, we had my permanent residence renewed as well. Then hopefully we can fly off to the tropics!
One morning of last week while preparing to leave for work, M was frantically searching for the car key. He apparently gave it to little C the night before to play with and couldn’t find it anymore. We searched the usual places where little C plays but failed. Fortunately M has a spare key.
It wasn’t the only thing that was missing; I also couldn’t find my comb. So for a week I was sporting an uncombed hair but you wouldn’t know it coz I have straight hair that can be tidied up by just running my hand through. Where could the little girl possibly kept our things?
One time I caught little C hiding the cards of her dad under the carpet. Hahahaha, if I didn’t catch her that time I bet we would also have a hard time finding it.
Anyway, last Saturday, when M was vacuuming and cleaning the flat, he found the car key and my comb hidden in the same place. Guess where? It fell inside the sofa together with a bunch of crayons! Whew! The mystery of our lost things was finally solved!
More than a month ago, I wrote about the broken leg of my eyeglasses, thanks to my litte C. It was temporarily fixed by M so until now I don’t feel the urgent need yet to get a replacement. I decided I’ll use it as much as I can to at least compensate the amount I paid for it. Getting the same kind of eyeglasses here in Europe will be quite expensive.
But I might consider ordering online coz there’s this cheap eyeglasses store that I’ve been reading much about lately. I bet you’ve heard about it too. Does Zenni Optical sounds familiar to you? It‘s an online retailer of affordable eyeglasses. Imagine a simple pair starting at $8? I checked how much my kind of eyeglasses would cost, and I was surprised it was really very cheap at only $39!

How can they sell eyeglasses that cheap? I found out that they sell directly from their own manufacturer to customers hence lessening the cost coz there are no middlemen involved. They also don’t spend too much on advertisement. With their very cheap price, I can even order maybe 2 pairs and still pay less than what I would have to pay in my favorite optical shop for 1 pair.
If only they have an online eye check-up, it would be great to know how much my eye grade is now, before ordering eyeglasses.
