It was exceptionally cold today that it drove me to wear socks. But that didn’t help. I could feel the cold creeping inside my skin! Yikes! This is a great time to eat something spicy and hot! What could it be?

Tom Yum was the first food I thought of. I still have few packs of Tom Yum paste my brother sent us and I also have frozen mushrooms from my mother-in-law. What I lack are the seafood, lemon grass and other spices to make a mean Tom Yum soup. When I voiced out my craving for spicy food at M, he was quick to search in the internet where we can find Tom Yum in Prague. It wasn’t only the spicy soup we found, but a lot of other Thai food as well that I’ve wanted to eat!

An hour and a half after our conversation, M arrived home carrying a brown bag with the food I ordered – tom yum kai and phad thai kai. I was battling between phad thai and nam tok mu but in the end I chose the former as I won’t have to cook rice. Heheh I was really feeling lazy!

The tom yum kai. Doesn’t look appealing at all!

The verdict: the soup wasn’t as yummy as what we usually make with mixed seafood. It has a strong taste of coriander but lacks the taste of lemon grass.

The phad thai kai.

The phad thai was so-so. I didn’t taste the peanuts and the bean sprouts were close to nil. But it was yummy, it just didn’t taste what phad thai should be. Even so, I devoured it with gusto.

If you’re curious where M bought the Thai food, it’s from:

October 30th, 2008spreading the christmas cheer

When kids are asked what their favorite holiday is, most often they would pick Christmas. Aside from their birthdays, Christmas is a special day when they get to receive plenty of gifts especially from Santa Claus who fulfills their Christmas wishes.

Christmas isn’t only a time for gift-giving, it’s also a time for families to celebrate together thus family reunions are common. For those who are far from us, we send them Christmas cards to let them know that we remember and miss them. One of the most popular greeting cards preferred by well-wishers are the personalized cards because they can have their family photos printed there and it would also serve as a souvenir to the recipients. Even the greetings can be customized according to what messages they want to convey to their loved ones. It also shows that extra effort is being put in coming up with the card design, the words, etc.

A good place to order Personalized Christmas Cards is at GalleryCollection.com, a leading publisher of personalized and business holiday cards. They use the finest quality card paper for their custom cards that comes in rich colors, sculpted embossing … There are also many card styles to choose from to match the different tastes of their customers.

One notable fact about this company is that they’re helping the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center with their donation of 800 greeting cards. The donation will go to the “Show Me a Smile” greeting card gift giving program which will hopefully bring smiles to the young patients being treated in the above-mentioned hospital. In a way, you’re also helping these children when you order from GalleryCollection.com. Now that’s a great way to spread the Christmas spirit to everyone especially the children!

October 28th, 2008what a holiday!

It feels like Saturday today. I was surprised why everybody was referring to yesterday as Monday. Teehee! Well, today is a holiday in Czech Republic and M is at home. So you know why I feel like it’s the weekend. But it has been a sort of depressing day; it has been raining all day, chilly and foggy too but that didn’t stop us from going out. We went to check out the small clothing store within our neighborhood but as expected, small businesses are closed during holidays.

Today, October 28 marks the Independent Czechoslovak State Day from Austria-Hungary.
October 27 was the day little C turned 14 months old!
October 26 was the day we partied at Karel & Floe’s place.
October 25 comes after October 24…. hehehe =)
October 24, little C had a fever.

October 22nd, 2008this week on the family

Little C is still obsessed with her dad! I’ve been sort of dethroned as little C’s most-loved creature haha. Every morning when M prepares himself to work, little C would also wake up (she’s light sleeper, little noises wakes her up easily), go down from the bed and follow her dad. Poor hubby couldn’t shower/dress himself coz the little girl wants to go up to his arms and be carried around. I had to wake up too and get her or else her dad wouldn’t be able to leave for work.

The past days we have been blessed with warm sunny afternoons so little C and I would meet her dad after work and spend time together as a family; nothing really grand, just a walk around the neighborhood, a little shopping, dining out, etc.

On Monday we took little C to a toy store where she picked a doll for herself. The moment she saw it, she just grabbed it and held on to it tightly with a happy smile on her face that was so irresistible; we had to buy it for her. I would have wanted a bigger doll (which can talk, cry and do lots of other baby things) for her, like what her cousin has but M said to just go with little C’s choice.

Little C at the toy store

So at 13 month-old, little C is now starting her training as a little mom to her doll. =D No wonder we girls are so good at taking care of kids coz we’ve been practicing since we’re babies! Actually she started way before her 13th month coz when she was an infant she already had a rag doll.

October 19th, 2008sticking like a glue

Little C was overjoyed to see her dad again. As soon as she saw him, she ran and hugged his legs. Haha The whole day, little C sticked to him like a glue.  I think she’s afraid he’ll leave again.

We took her for a lunch out coz it was sunny (yeah! sun always plays a major role in our decisions for outdoor activities in this part of the world!). There were many kids in the pizzeria we went to, so little C enjoyed watching them play. She also had her own time walking and picking the flowers. Unfortunately she didn’t like the pancakes we ordered for her but preferred to share with our pizza instead.

Pancakes with fruit fillings.

The rest of the afternoon was uneventful, we spent it sleeping and at night, we went to shop for groceries.  What’s important is that the family is together again! :P

And this little girl is more than happy!

October 16th, 2008where’s the car?

After more than two weeks of being away, hubby already forgot where he parked the car. I asked him earlier just to test his memory and I was right, he really forgot! He usually parks it along the street outside of our building or at the parking area of a nearby store. I hope it’s still there where ever he parked it. I also hope that it’s still intact and not abused by drunkards or thieves. God forbid! These are usual cases that happen when you don’t have your own garage.

There are even instances that cars are stolen even if they are parked in a guarded parking for rent area! That only shows that they’re not reliable either.

October 14th, 2008counting again

Oh yeah, I’m counting back at one! My ordeal is suppose to end tomorrow but because of circumstances beyond our control (uhhhh! i don’t like that!), I’ll have to content myself with counting over again. It will be better if I’m going to do it with little C, at the end of the week who knows she might be able to master 123 with me. Heh!

Ahhh, you don’t understand what I’m talking here, maybe you need to read the history which you can find here. *wink*

October 14th, 2008avoiding back pains

Long hours of sitting can cause back pains. This used to happen to me often before especially when I forget to stand and stretch. It rarely happens now as little C keeps me on my toes most of the time and out of my chair. Aside from occasional break from prolonged sitting, it also helps to use an ergonomically-designed chair to provide proper back support and comfort.

One company that accepts made to order ergonomic chairs, Work Benches, drafting tables and other technical furniture is Formaspace. They design and create elegant, practical and flexible products for clients working in the technical field, making it conducive to their specific needs.  Having this kind of furniture gives workers the flexibility and ease of movement in a work environment. Just what they need to avoid or lessen injuries or back pains.

October 14th, 2008the butterfly award

A butterfly has landed bringing me this award: =)

It’s nice to be appreciated. Thanks BK for passing this award to me and for considering my blog as one of the coolest. It must be the autumn breeze that’s making it cool haha! Anyway, here’s the simple rule to follow:

You pick ten people and pass this award to them. Then contact them and let them know that you have chosen them and their blog for the award. Also link back to the person who gave you the award. I have decided to follow the rules in this award as there are some people which I really want to thank.

Ten people… I’ll figure that out later in my dream, so watch out!

October 14th, 2008eating healthy

The past two Sundays, we had our lunch at my mother-in-law’s place. Each time she served the food, there’s a tomato salad on the side, but its always little C eating most of my part. I don’t have any complaints. In fact we’re just so happy that she eats almost anything we give her; whether its fruits, vegetables or meat, she’s game! As we all know, fruits and vegetables are good sources of fibers which is good for her. I hope she’ll continue this good eating habit till she grows into an adult. I know some parents have a hard time feeding their kids with vegetables and it can be problem to the kids’ health and also later on when these kids grow. Not having enough fiber in the body can clog our colon with mucous and toxins. Yay!

Munching an apple. That’s a good girl!

Other people had to take colon cleanser such as Dual-Action Cleanse coz they have problems with their bowel movements, etc. Dual-Action Cleanse works like natural fibers too coz they eliminate toxins and clean the colon to make one feel lighter and clean inside.

Anyway, its best to train our kids to eat healthy foods while they’re still young so they won’t have health problems in the future. Introduce greens to their diet!
