June 12th, 2008small yet powerful

It’s small, it’s powerful, it can spy on you, and it can travel with you where ever you go… what’s that? Little C? nope! though those descriptions fit her perfectly.

I’m talking about the small, pocket sized device that has made a big difference in people’s lives. It receives signals from the 24 Department of Defense satellites circling above the earth we live. It has an internal computer that determines the GPS location of the device within 2.5 meters thus makes a very good spy!

June 11th, 2008on student credit cards

Life these modern times are certainly made easier. Together with the development of high technology, banking, business and finance are not left behind. They have come up with varied and brilliant ideas and one of these is the credit card; and now the student credit card.

Credit cards could be a problem or a benefit, depending on the character and attitude of the person. I know of one whose life was very much affected due to mismanagement of his credit card. Their housing amortization was not anymore paid on time such that this piled up, and even other family necessities were tuned down. All because of the credit card; or I should say, the mishandling of the credit card. No wonder many shun even the thought of credit cards.

Students, before they are exposed to the intricacies of credit cards should learn the basics of good spending habits to avoid the dangerous possibilities. Budgeting is an excellent tool however this needs planning, proper management and discipline. The budget should be realistic and within available finances, and this may mean a subdued lifestyle. StudentCreditCards.com is one site where students can learn about all these and many more.

June 10th, 2008who wants a Nissan?

I’m buying a car! Heh! Gotcha! I’m not, but who knows someday when my blogging money can afford it. It seems I’m stumbling upon many car sites these past months. Could they be luring me?

Here’s one latest car that came my way – Nissan! It’s one of the world’s popular Japanese car brands and the third largest Japanese car manufacturer.

In the Philippines most people choose the Nissan double cab pick-up. It’s very versatile and can carry extra passengers at the back. Versatile coz it can run on terrains and can also be loaded with stuff. It’s a good choice for people with small businesses that entail delivery to other points of the city or town.

Have you read the story of the blind men and the elephant? Recent happenings have made me recall that story which is said to have originated from South Asia. Anyway the gist of the story is that an elephant was brought to the blind men to touch and feel and then share among themselves their experience based on their interaction with the huge animal.

Since the elephant is big, each of them touched only a part, like the tail or the ears or the legs. In the end their findings turned out to be completely different from each other.

So what’s the lesson? Different people have different beliefs and opinions based on what they have experienced. Sometimes we judge and misjudge a person because of one incident and tend to generalize it. Just because one ate a sour apple doesn’t mean all apples are sour; just because it was flooding in January, all the months will be flooding; just because one ate a sweet mango then he concludes all mangoes are sweet… We are blinded by our biases and beliefs and experiences or anger perhaps?

June 9th, 2008tracking our document

When we were waiting for my parents’ invitation (a required document by the Czech embassy) from Prague, it was delayed as there was a holiday. We were already sort of uneasy especially as we were counting the number of days to meet the minimum requirement for visa application.

Then we remember that the international freight forwarder servicing the document, being a reliable one, has a GPS tracking system. So we checked it online then, and knew the whereabouts of our document. It was to be delivered that day.

We’re grateful indeed that high technology systems in almost all aspects of life have come to make life easier and more convenient with the GPS tracking. Among other useful applications of GPS tracking are for law enforcement, personal, fleet and cargo use.

June 9th, 2008car seats buying guide

About this time last year, we were already preparing for the coming of our first child. As first-time parents, we’d rely on family and friend’s advices or read articles in the internet about child care and such. In choosing baby stuff such as cribs, infant car seats, clothes, etc. we’d read shopping guides and reviews. Shopping sites really helped us in guiding what kind of products to buy and what special features to look for.

For example, if you’re searching for the best car seats for your baby, Shop Wiki has the car seats buying guide which would help parents choose the best product based on its features, price and safety. Just make sure before considering other features that the car seat meets the requirement of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards then the rest follows. Ideally, you’d want your car seat to be comfortable for the baby, can be easily washed and cleaned, can be installed easily, has convertible seat and easy to release latches and buckles.

June 8th, 2008touring around Prague

We’ve been touring Prague the past weeks, showing my parents around the city’s famous landmarks yet I haven’t blogged about it. Well, I’ll leave that to my mom to talk about it in her blog. She’s curious about Czech’s history and the historical buildings we‘ve seen thus she was diligently browsing and researching about them. Now she knows more about the country than I do which is evident in the posts she has written in her blog: the lighter side.

Anyway, here are some of the pics from our tour:
