May 10th, 2008the David and Goliath of women’s tennis
Tennis is one of the sports that I’d like to learn (yeah in my dreams!). My brother plays the sports every weekend, bringing with him his head rackets. He’s also fond of watching the sports on TV. According to him, the women’s single tennis match in the German Open was really amazing. I don’t know if you have watched it.

It reminds me of the David and Goliath battle in the bible stories. You have heard of the Williams sisters, and they sort of intimidate their opponent on the courts on account of their power and built. Some say they are the giants. That’s why Serena Williams is the top five women tennis player in the world with 17 matches unbeaten streak in the tour. She has her Wilson tennis racket to thank for the win too!
Today is a different story. A smaller player Dinara Safina, considered like David just had a great battle against Serena. The game was very dramatic as she out powered Williams’ to set her a place in the semi-finals with a great 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7/5) win. It’s an inspiration to see small players get their chance to win a game in tennis.
So what does it take to be a giant killer like Safina? Skill? Determination? Passion? A good pair of tennis shoes like New Balance tennis shoes? Whatever it is, the Russian player has this to say “When you work hard and practice all the time, but you don’t get the breaks you think ‘why, why, why? This sort of result just shows me that I am moving in the right direction.”

Happy Mother’s Day too Daisy!!!
I love and used to follow the Williams sisters years back. Also Davenport and Hingis. I’ve lost touch with tennis in the last few years. My idols since were Steffi Graf and Pete Sampras! I have always wanted to name my first baby Steffi or something that sounds like it if I had a girl but then things has changed and I had a boy.

You should definitely play! It’s fun and easy. Stop by my blog ag http://www.zemeks.blogspot.com for some quick basic tips. I enjoy watching the pros too. I love to anticipate their next stroke to see if I’d hit it where they do. I love the strategy involved! I think 85% is mental, 15% physical.
