June 22nd, 2007shades of red and grey
Last Saturday afternoon, we went fruit-picking with dad and his friends. It was in a small lot not far from our place, where several fruit trees were growing -apples, pears, peaches and cherries. I was amazed at the abundant quantity of red cherries decking the lone tree. There were 6 of us gathering the fruits but we can’t even manage to wipe out everything! Our (M and I) loot alone was about 4 kilos in weight. I haven’t tasted fresh cherries yet. There were 2 kinds of cherries growing there, one was sour and the other from which we were picking were sweet and juicy. Alena warned us that some of the fruits had worms inside. This didn’t stop me from eating. There wasn’t anything else to eat there anyway and I was kinda hungry.

On the way home, a series of unfortunate events happened to me. First, I had another excruciating cramp on my left foot. I was glad it disappeared after awhile only to be followed by numbness in my head. Then I slowly felt my body weakened like my soul was leaving me… I closed my eyes. The only thing I could do was press M’s hand weakly while he was busy chattering with Dad. Fortunately I thought of opening the car window wide enough for fresh air to blow inside. All I can see was a blur of grey. I felt like I was dying… I kept on praying that I’d survive this one. The prayer and fresh air did help. Minutes passed my body regained its strength but my vision was still in a haze, from a grey blur everything was now very bright, almost blinding. Thank God, when we arrived at the parking lot, I was already well enough to walk and my sight has returned to normal.
It was really a terrible experience.
Another terrible one brought by my pregnancy.

As for the cherries, they all ended up in the trash! We found out that majority was infested with worms. Ewwww! Sweet and juicy eh? Must be the worms!

Hi Daisy! Thanks for putting my site up on your side bar
It’s always nice meeting new folk. By the sounds of it you’re having a rough pregnancy. Did you get to see a doctor after the episode you’ve just described?? That sounds quite scary. I had horrible pregnancies too, but never anything like that.
On another note, it’s a shame the cherries had to be binned, they are my favourite fruit of all time
Hope you get to have another taste of some worm-free ones, as they’re really worth it!
Take care
Rachel

hello Rachel. i just can’t help adding your blog coz it is very inspirational. there are so many blogs out out there that are full of negativism and yours is soul-lifting. and of course, you’ve got a lovely family.
as always, my doctor would tell me it’s common for pregnant women.
btw, i was really surprised that cherries tasted good. as to my favorite fruit of all time - Philippine mangoes!!!
